Overview of the role
We are seeking a meticulous and organised Finance Assistant to join our finance team. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for supporting various financial tasks, including data entry, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and payroll. The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for detail, strong numerical skills, and a solid understanding of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Entry and Bookkeeping: Accurately enter financial data into the company’s accounting software, ensuring all transactions are recorded and categorised correctly.
- Invoice Processing: Review and process invoices from vendors, verifying accuracy and completeness before payment. Resolve any discrepancies or issues with invoices in a timely manner.
- Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling bank statements, credit card transactions, and accounts payable/receivable ledgers. Identify and rectify inconsistencies or errors found during the reconciliation process.
- Payroll Processing: Prepare and process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Calculate wages, deductions, and withholdings. Address payroll-related queries from employees and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Expense Management: Monitor and manage employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Reconcile expense claims with receipts and company guidelines.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the finance department, such as filing documents, organising financial records, and assisting with other tasks as needed.
- Financial Reporting: Assist the finance director with the preparation of financial reports for management review.
Experience and Requirements
- Proven experience as a Finance Assistant or in a similar role
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping
- Basic understanding of financial principles and regulations
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently
